Getting Started

Authentication

Where keys come from, and which header each endpoint accepts.

Key format

All requests need a Prismma key. Keys look like sk-eu-.... Get one from the console — your first key includes €1 founding credit, no card required.

shell
export PRISMMA_API_KEY="sk-eu-YOUR-KEY"
Each Prismma key is scoped to one provider group. A Claude key routes to claude-* models; an OpenAI key routes to gpt-* / codex-* models. Mixing them returns 403.

Headers per protocol

Both header conventions are accepted on every endpoint, regardless of which protocol you call — pass whichever your SDK or tool already sends.

HeaderTypically used by
Authorization: Bearer sk-eu-...OpenAI SDK, most OpenAI-compatible tools
x-api-key: sk-eu-...Anthropic SDK, Claude Code, Claude Desktop
shell
# Both header styles work on every endpoint —
# use whichever your client already sends.
curl https://api.prismma.ai/v1/models -H "Authorization: Bearer $PRISMMA_API_KEY"
curl https://api.prismma.ai/v1/models -H "x-api-key: $PRISMMA_API_KEY"

Storing your key

Store the key in an environment variable — never commit it to source control. Pass it as Authorization: Bearer $PRISMMA_API_KEY on every request.
